CHIN AESTHETICS

When evaluating the aesthetic appearance of the face, the harmony of the chin, cheek, forehead, and nose ratio is one of the most basic issues. The need to change the tip of the jaw and the general appearance of the jaw is usually not clearly expressed by people. Most often it is noticed during rhinoplasty or facial rejuvenation examination.
During the examination of the jaw, attention should be paid to the inclusions of the teeth and the levels of the lower and upper jaw. If there are problems with dental inclusions, it is necessary to start orthodontic treatment first. Cephalometric analyses should be performed to evaluate the need for orthognathic surgery. If there are no tooth closure problems, operations to shape the jaw can be planned.
There are many methods of jaw shaping. Fillings developed for the tip of the jaw from non-surgical methods are applications that can be performed under office conditions. Apart from this, the chin can also be shaped with fat fillings obtained from the person's own fat tissue. But its results and persistence are less predictable. If permanent results are desired in jaw aesthetics, it may be considered to advance the jaw tip bone or to enlarge the jaw tip with an implant. Medpor or silicone implants are produced in a wide variety of sizes to enlarge the tip or corners of the jaw. Most often it is a procedure performed in 30 to 45 minutes under general anesthesia. After the procedure, the tip of the chin is taped and the bands are removed approximately 4 – 5 days later.
